We strive to be the best office provider on the market. We find the best spatial solutions together with our customers, and we are able to solve even the most demanding special needs. Below, some of our customers tell how we achieve this.

CFO Eija Yletyinen, Mercuri International Oy

New facilities offer new energy

Talousjohtaja Eija Yletyinen, Mercuri International Oy “We had two alternatives: a renovation or moving into a new office. We chose to move. The new facilities offered us new functionalities and new energy,” says CFO Eija Yletyinen of Mercuri International Oy.

“Our old office in Lauttasaari was in need of a renovation. We could have done a superficial renovation but we would not have been able to do anything the most pressing needs, such as the air-conditioning, heating and lighting system,” says Yletyinen.

“We surveyed the available alternatives and finally narrowed the choices to three sites. Falcon Business Park seemed the best for us. They were well suited for our needs.”.

Location matters
The decision to move was not an easy one to make for the training and consulting company that was established 41 years ago and that has done business in Helsinki all this time.
The most difficult issue was moving from Helsinki to Espoo. Even though the distance between the Lauttasaari office and Falcon in Espoo is not long, the mental distance seemed much longer.

“We took our time thinking about how us moving will influence our customer relations. Since it was a question of availability, good traffic connections and parking spaces, we finally noted that there is no problem,” Yletyinen says. “We moved in October 2008, and everything has gone just fine. Our customers’ attitudes towards us moving have all been positive.”

An own cafe
Mercuri has offices on two floors in Falcon. “We were able to place our customer areas and working spaces on different floors, which is good from a functional viewpoint,” Yletyinen praises the premises.

“The new premises seem much more spacious than the old office due to the high-ceilinged entrance lobby and plenty of light, even though the floor area is the same.”
Solutions customised for Mercuri include indoor stairwells, conference rooms and their own cafe-kitchen, for example. “The cafe is a meeting and resting place for the personnel. We have been extremely happy with it.”

Stress Free implemented
Mercuri was also able to influence the colours of the office, replacing the basic grey with a lighter colour. Concept designer Margit Sjöroos, the developer of the Stress Free Area® concept that has been implemented in NCC’s offices, was involved in the design process.

“The finishing touches have not been made yet. We will work in these premises for a while and revise the situation from time to time, such as whether something in the lighting system or acoustics need to be changed,” says Yletyinen.

“It is important that privacy is ensured in an open office. Sounds may not carry horizontally from one end of the room to the other. Solutions that will cut the sounds and materials that will absorb sound are needed.”
