Libeskind’s vision of the Tampere Deck and Central Arena project is complete

A new city sector will be built on top of a railroad line in Tampere. Daniel Libeskind’s bold vision creates a unique environment. It connects the new city sector naturally to the surrounding city centre, while connecting different city sectors divided by the railway line. The vision is very impressive when viewed from the street level or from a distance. People will move inside the area in urban facilities with a pleasant and variable atmosphere.

Offices, business premises, hotel rooms and residences with a total area of 60,000 sqm will be built on top of the railroad. In addition, the design covers the Central Arena. Its total area is nearly 50,000 sqm.
“Cooperation with Libeskind has been smooth. His vision is astonishing," says Tero Estovirta, head of NCC Property Development's Tampere unit.

The planning process is in progress

“The impressive designs published represent the meaning of the project for the City of Tampere and the development of the city centre. The planning process is proceeding as planned and negotiations with the State over land ownership have made good progress. We have a mutual understanding with the Finnish Transport Agency that controls the area over signing building agreements,” says Juha Yli-Rajala, Chairman of the project’s steering group from the City of Tampere.
