NCC Green - towards more sustainable development

NCC Tähtikoti Homes and NCC Business Parks and commercial premises will from now on be designed to comply with the requirements of the highest energy-efficiency Grade A certificate. Buildings with an energy-efficiency Grade A certificate are often also low-energy houses (sometimes also passive houses). NCC’s first energy-efficiency Grade A houses were completed as early as 2009.

NCC Green is NCC Group’s development programme aiming at a more ecological way of building. We cooperate with research institutes and higher education institutions. We develop energy-efficient solutions for all NCC sectors. Moreover, we are looking for ways that residents and users of the houses can consume less energy than previously.  We are already implementing our "Asumisen koulu" ("Lessons in Living") concept, through which NCC Tähtikoti residents are acquainted with the house technology and its sensible use. With instructions and advice each resident can decrease their energy consumption and the life cycle of the house is also lengthened.

NCC Property Development is the first company in Finland to receive the EU’s GreenBuilding Partner status and in its activities it complies with the international BREEAM environmental assessment method. NCC’s design agency, Optiplan, has a BREEAM license, which entitles them to perform environmental assessments of international construction pojects in accordance with the BREEAM classification. Only four Finnish consulting companies have been given this license.
