In autumn 2009 NCC Property Development and Citycon received a planning reservation for the development and implementation of Matinkylän Metrokeskus.
Matinkylä is the terminal station in phase one of the West Metro, which is expected to be used by over 30,000 passengers daily. The Metrokeskus will form a significant meeting point for people and a busy traffic hub. The planning reservation for Matinkylän Metrokeskus applies not only to the future metro station, but also a bus terminal, parking spaces for feeder traffic, apartments and a significant amount of new commercial space which will be smoothly connected to the current Iso Omena.
Thanks to the Metrokeskus, Iso Omena Shopping Centre's current rentable commercial area will grow by half and the amount of parking spaces will increase by around one thousand. Our aim is to start construction of the Matinkylän Metrokeskus by the beginning of 2013 and the target for opening is 2015.
